DESCRIPTION
An expansion plug, also known as a freeze plug, is a small circular metal disk that is inserted into the engine block or cylinder head of a truck. The part number 4095914 refers to a specific expansion plug used in certain engines. The purpose of an expansion plug is to seal off holes in the engine block or cylinder head that were created during the manufacturing process. These holes are necessary for casting and machining, but they must be sealed off once the engine is assembled and ready for use. Expansion plugs are designed to expand slightly if there is an increase in pressure inside the engine, which helps prevent coolant leaks and other problems. Over time, expansion plugs can become corroded and may need to be replaced.
