DESCRIPTION
An expansion plug, also known as a freeze plug or Welch plug, is a small metal disc used to seal off holes in the engine block and cylinder head that were created during the manufacturing process. The expansion plugs prevent coolant from leaking out of the engine and also provide an outlet for excess pressure to escape. Part number 147416 is a specific expansion plug used in certain truck models. It is important to regularly check these plugs for signs of wear or damage, as a failed expansion plug can lead to serious engine problems such as overheating or coolant loss.
