DESCRIPTION
An expansion plug, also known as a freeze plug or frost plug, is a small metal disc that is inserted into the engine block of a truck. The purpose of this plug is to seal off any unused openings in the block, such as those left over from the casting process. Additionally, expansion plugs can be used to prevent damage to the engine block caused by freezing temperatures. In extreme cold conditions, water trapped inside the engine can expand and cause cracks in the block. The expansion plug will pop out before any major damage occurs, allowing for easy replacement and preventing costly repairs. Part number 3945098 refers specifically to an expansion plug designed for use in certain makes and models of trucks.
