DESCRIPTION
An Expansion Plug or Freeze Plug, identified by part number ST1281, is a small circular metal disc that fits into a hole in the engine block or cylinder head. This plug is designed to seal the hole and prevent coolant from leaking out of the engine. The expansion plug is typically made of steel or brass, and it can be installed using a special tool that expands the plug to fit snugly into place. While expansion plugs are generally reliable, they can sometimes fail due to corrosion or other factors, causing coolant leaks that can lead to engine damage if not addressed promptly.
