DESCRIPTION
The Barrel and Plunger is a critical component of a truck's fuel injection system. The barrel, also known as the injector body, is a cylindrical housing that holds the plunger in place. The plunger, also referred to as the injector piston, moves up and down inside the barrel to control the delivery of fuel into the engine's combustion chamber. When fuel enters the barrel through an inlet port, it fills an annular space between the plunger and barrel wall. As pressure builds within this space, it forces the plunger upward against a spring until it reaches a point where it uncovers an outlet port. Fuel then flows out of this port and into the engine cylinder where it is ignited. Proper maintenance of these components is essential for optimal engine performance and fuel economy.
