DESCRIPTION
The Doser Pump (part number 5375481RX) is a component found in modern diesel engines that are equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. The pump is responsible for delivering a precise amount of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to the SCR system, which then converts harmful nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water. The doser pump works by pumping DEF through a nozzle into the exhaust stream, where it mixes with the hot exhaust gases and reacts with the catalyst to reduce emissions. A malfunctioning doser pump can adversely affect emissions, fuel economy, and engine performance.
