DESCRIPTION
A drive shaft, also known as a propeller shaft, is a component in a truck's drivetrain that transfers torque from the transmission to the differential. The drive shaft consists of a long metal tube with universal joints at each end that allow for movement and flexibility. It is connected to the transmission output shaft and differential input flange through yokes or flanges. The drive shaft rotates at high speeds and must be balanced properly to prevent vibrations or damage to other components. It is an essential part of the powertrain system that allows for smooth power delivery from the engine to the wheels, making it possible for trucks to move forward or backward.
