DESCRIPTION
A shutoff valve, also known as a fuel solenoid valve, is a component in diesel engines that controls the flow of fuel between the fuel injection pump and the high-pressure fuel rail. The part number 3023067 is commonly used in Cummins engines. When activated by an electrical signal from the engine control module (ECM), the solenoid lifts a plunger, allowing fuel to flow through the valve and into the high-pressure system. Conversely, when deactivated, the plunger closes off the flow of fuel. This mechanism helps to control engine speed and prevent damage from over-revving or runaway conditions. The shutoff valve is an essential safety feature in diesel engines and plays a critical role in ensuring proper engine performance and longevity.
