DESCRIPTION
A Shutoff Valve, also known as SOV, is a component found in diesel engines that controls the flow of fuel to the engine. The valve is typically located between the fuel tank and the fuel injection pump and can be manually or electronically controlled. When closed, the valve prevents fuel from reaching the engine which can be useful in emergency situations such as a fire or if there is a problem with the engine's performance.
