DESCRIPTION
A shutoff valve, also known as a fuel shut off solenoid, is an electronic component that controls the flow of fuel to the engine. The shutoff valve is typically attached to the fuel pump and works by blocking fuel flow when there is no power supplied to it. This prevents the engine from running when it is not desired or in case of emergency. When power is supplied to the valve, it opens and allows fuel to flow from the tank to the engine. Shutoff valves are commonly found in diesel engines as they require a constant supply of fuel to run efficiently.
