DESCRIPTION
A crankshaft spacer is a component that fits between the engine's crankshaft and flywheel, or flexplate, in order to properly position the flywheel in relation to the starter motor. The part number 3897777 is a specific model of crankshaft spacer designed for use in certain trucks. The spacer helps to ensure proper alignment of the flywheel teeth with the starter motor's pinion gear, which allows for smooth engagement and disengagement during starting and operation. Without a properly installed crankshaft spacer, there can be excessive wear on both the starter motor and flywheel teeth, leading to premature failure of these components.
