DESCRIPTION
The Speed Sensor Kit (part number 5552527) is an essential component of a truck's anti-lock braking system (ABS). It is responsible for measuring the speed of the wheels and sending that information to the ABS control module. The kit includes a sensor that is mounted on the wheel hub or axle, as well as wiring and connectors that allow it to communicate with the truck's computer. When a wheel begins to lock up during braking, the ABS system uses data from the speed sensors to determine if it needs to adjust brake pressure in order to prevent skidding. Without properly functioning speed sensors, a truck's ABS system will not function correctly, increasing the risk of accidents during sudden stops or slippery road conditions.
