DESCRIPTION
A spring washer with the part number 3823300 is a type of fastener that is used to prevent nuts, bolts, and screws from loosening due to vibration or thermal expansion. The washer is made of a thin, flat ring of metal that has a slight curvature and a split in the middle. When the washer is compressed between the nut or bolt head and the surface it is being fastened to, the split creates tension that helps to maintain tightness over time. The springiness of this type of washer also allows it to compensate for any settling or shifting in the joint over time.
