DESCRIPTION
A pressure switch, also known as an oil pressure sensor, is a critical component in a truck's engine oil system. It measures the oil pressure within the system and sends signals to the engine control module (ECM) to ensure proper lubrication of engine components. The pressure switch is typically located near the oil filter and operates by using a diaphragm that flexes in response to changes in oil pressure. When the pressure drops below a certain threshold, the switch triggers an alarm or warning light on the dashboard to alert the driver of potential issues with low oil pressure.
