DESCRIPTION
A tappet guide sleeve, also known as a lifter bore bushing, is a cylindrical component used in the engine to guide the tappet or lifter. It is typically made of high-strength steel or bronze material and is installed into the engine block to provide support and guidance for the tappet. The tappet guide sleeve ensures proper alignment of the camshaft and pushrod assembly during operation, reducing wear on both components. It also helps maintain consistent valve lash clearance and prevents excessive valve train noise. Tappet guide sleeves are commonly found in overhead valve (OHV) engines and are crucial in maintaining optimal engine performance.
