DESCRIPTION
A thermostat is a component of an engine's cooling system that regulates the flow of coolant through the engine. It is typically located near the engine's water outlet and functions by blocking or opening a valve in response to changes in temperature. When the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed, preventing coolant from circulating through the radiator and allowing it to warm up more quickly. As the temperature rises, the thermostat gradually opens, allowing coolant to circulate and prevent overheating.
