DESCRIPTION
The thermostat is a crucial component of a truck's engine cooling system, designed to regulate the flow of coolant through the engine. Part number 3104814, this device uses a wax pellet to control the opening and closing of its valve. When the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed, preventing coolant from flowing through the radiator and instead directing it towards the engine block to warm it up more quickly. Once the engine reaches its optimal operating temperature, however, the wax in the thermostat expands and opens its valve, allowing coolant to circulate freely through both the engine and radiator. This process helps maintain proper engine temperature and ensures that all components stay within their designated operating parameters.
