A thermostat is an essential component of a truck's cooling system, designed to regulate the engine's operating temperature. The Part Number 3696558 is a specific type of thermostat that is compatible with certain makes and models of trucks. Essentially, the thermostat acts as a valve that opens and closes to allow coolant to flow through the engine as needed. When the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed, forcing coolant to circulate only within the engine block until it reaches its optimal operating temperature. Once this temperature has been reached, the thermostat opens up and allows coolant to flow into the radiator, where it can be cooled before being recirculated back through the engine again. This helps ensure that your truck's engine stays at an optimal temperature for efficient performance and longevity.
