DESCRIPTION
A thermostat (part number: 4922278) is a component in the engine cooling system of a truck that regulates the flow of coolant through the engine. It is responsible for maintaining the ideal operating temperature of the engine by opening and closing a valve based on the temperature of the coolant. When the engine is cold, it remains closed to prevent coolant from flowing through until it reaches its optimal temperature. Once it reaches this temperature, it opens to allow coolant to flow through and maintain a consistent temperature. If there is an issue with the thermostat, such as being stuck open or closed, it can result in overheating or poor fuel economy.
