A Threaded Insert, also known as a threaded bushing or threaded tube, is a cylindrical metal component designed to provide a secure, threaded attachment point within an existing material. Specifically, the Part Number 3170221 Threaded Insert is commonly used in truck assembly and repair to reinforce or join together pieces of sheet metal, plastic, or other materials that are too thin or weak to support screws or bolts on their own. The insert features external threads that grip the surrounding material and internal threads that accept a bolt, screw, or other fastener.
