DESCRIPTION
A Corrosion Resistor Tube, also known as a CRT, is a component found in the exhaust system of diesel trucks. Its primary function is to protect the metal components of the exhaust system from corrosion caused by acidic gases and moisture. The CRT is typically made of stainless steel and is coated with a ceramic material that acts as an insulator. This coating prevents electrical current from flowing through the tube and causing galvanic corrosion. The CRT works by introducing an electrical charge into the exhaust gas stream, which neutralizes any acidic components before they reach other parts of the system. This helps to extend the life of critical components such as mufflers, pipes, and catalytic converters.
