DESCRIPTION
The Breather Tube, also known as the crankcase breather tube or PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, is a component in a truck's engine that allows for the release of pressure and vapors from the engine's crankcase. The Breather Tube is typically made of rubber or plastic and connects to the top of the engine block. As oil is burned during normal engine operation, gas and water vapors are produced which can build up pressure in the crankcase. The Breather Tube provides a path for these vapors to escape which reduces pressure on seals and gaskets within the engine. A malfunctioning Breather Tube can cause oil leaks or increased oil consumption. It is important to regularly inspect and replace this component to maintain proper engine function.
