DESCRIPTION
A breather tube, also known as a crankcase breather tube or engine breather tube, is a component of an internal combustion engine that allows for the release of pressure and gases that build up within the engine's crankcase. The breather tube is typically made from a durable material such as rubber or plastic and connects to the valve cover or oil filler cap on one end and vents to the atmosphere on the other end. As the engine operates, gases and moisture build up in the crankcase due to combustion blow-by and other factors. The breather tube allows for these gases to be released without affecting engine performance. If a breather tube becomes clogged or damaged, it can cause excessive pressure buildup in the crankcase leading to oil leaks, decreased fuel efficiency, and potential damage to other engine components.
