DESCRIPTION
The breather tube, also known as a vent hose, is a crucial component in the engine's ventilation system. Its primary function is to provide an outlet for excess pressure and gases that accumulate within the engine crankcase. The breather tube is typically made of rubber or plastic and connects to the valve cover or oil filler cap on one end and the air intake system on the other. As air passes through the engine, it can pick up oil vapors and other contaminants that are then removed by passing through a filter located within the breather tube. Over time, these filters can become clogged with debris and require replacement to ensure proper airflow through the engine. A faulty breather tube can lead to reduced performance, increased emissions, or even engine damage if pressure builds up within the crankcase.
