DESCRIPTION
A breather tube, also known as a vent tube, is a component found in the engine of a truck that allows for the release of gases or pressure buildup within the crankcase. The breather tube is typically made of durable materials such as rubber or plastic and can be found attached to the valve cover or oil filler cap. As engine oil heats up, it can release vapors that need to be released in order to prevent damage to engine components. The breather tube provides a pathway for these vapors to escape and prevents pressure from building up within the crankcase. Without a properly functioning breather tube, an engine could suffer from reduced performance or even catastrophic failure due to excessive pressure buildup.
