DESCRIPTION
The valve cover is a component of an internal combustion engine that is located at the top of the cylinder head. The purpose of the valve cover is to protect the valvetrain components and keep oil from leaking out. It is typically made of metal or plastic and has a gasket that creates a seal between it and the cylinder head. The valve cover may also have breather holes or ports for ventilation. Over time, the gasket can become worn or damaged, causing oil leaks that can lead to engine damage if not addressed promptly. In order to replace a valve cover, it must be removed along with any associated components such as ignition coils or spark plug wires.
