DESCRIPTION
A valve rotator is a component found in the valvetrain of an internal combustion engine. Specifically, it is designed to rotate the valve as it opens and closes, which helps to reduce wear on both the valve stem and the valve seat. This is accomplished by means of a small roller or wheel that is attached to the end of the valve stem. As the camshaft pushes down on the lifter, which in turn pushes down on the pushrod, which then pushes down on rocker arm, which then opens up the valve. At this point, as soon as contact between cam lobe and follower ends, valve rotator takes over to control further movement of valve with minimal wear and tear. The roller or wheel spins against a hardened surface on either rocker arm or cylinder head depending upon engine configuration while minimizing friction during rotation thereby increasing longevity of component's life span.
