DESCRIPTION
A valve collet (part number 5271478) is a small but crucial component in an engine's valve train. It is essentially a small metal clip that sits on top of the valve stem and holds the valve spring in place. Without the collet, the spring would not be able to exert enough pressure to keep the valve closed during combustion, which could lead to engine damage or failure. Valve collets are typically made from high-strength steel or other durable materials, and are designed to withstand high temperatures and extreme mechanical stresses. They are often sold in sets of 16 or more, as each cylinder in an engine will require at least two collets (one for each valve).
