DESCRIPTION
The Vacuum Control Valve, also known as the VCV or vacuum regulator, is a crucial component in the engine's emission system. This valve manages the vacuum pressure that operates various emissions control devices such as the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve and canister purge valve. The VCV regulates vacuum pressure by opening or closing a valve based on engine load and throttle position, ensuring that emissions are minimized while still allowing for optimal engine performance. A malfunctioning VCV can cause a range of issues such as rough idle, poor fuel economy, or even failed emissions tests.
