DESCRIPTION
The vent tube (part number 4946496) is an essential component of the truck's fuel system. It is responsible for equalizing the pressure in the fuel tank and preventing a vacuum from forming, which can impede fuel flow. The vent tube is typically made of durable materials such as plastic or rubber to withstand exposure to gasoline and other petroleum-based products. It connects to the top of the fuel tank and may run along the side of the vehicle before terminating at a point above ground level. In addition to its primary function, it also helps prevent emissions from escaping into the atmosphere by routing them back through other parts of the engine's emissions control system.
