DESCRIPTION
A lock washer is a small, circular metal washer with teeth or ridges on one side. The purpose of the lock washer, such as the S609 model, is to prevent nuts and bolts from coming loose due to vibration or other movement. When installed between the nut and bolt head, the teeth of the lock washer grip both surfaces and create tension that helps keep them in place. Lock washers are commonly used in automotive applications where there is a risk of components becoming loose over time.
