DESCRIPTION
The Parking Brake Shoe Assembly (part number MK501035) is a component of a truck's parking brake system. It consists of two curved brake shoes that are lined with friction material, and are mounted on a metal backing plate. The assembly is designed to engage the brake drum when the parking brake is applied, preventing the vehicle from rolling. The shoes are actuated by a lever or cable mechanism, which pulls them into contact with the drum's inner surface. Over time, the friction material on the shoes wears down and needs to be replaced. A worn or damaged parking brake shoe assembly can compromise the safety of a truck and should be inspected regularly.
