DESCRIPTION
The Power Steering Oil Pump Assembly, also known as the PSOP, is a crucial component in a truck's power steering system. It is responsible for pumping hydraulic fluid, or power steering fluid, through the system to provide assistance in turning the vehicle's wheels. The PSOP consists of a pump, reservoir, and pressure relief valve. The pump is driven by the engine's serpentine belt and draws fluid from the reservoir. It then pressurizes the fluid and sends it through the power steering hoses to the steering gear or rack where it assists in turning the wheels. The pressure relief valve ensures that the system does not become over-pressurized and damage components.
