DESCRIPTION
A flywheel flexplate with ring and gear is an internal engine component that is bolted to the crankshaft of an engine. It serves as a mounting surface for the torque converter and provides a smooth surface for the clutch to engage with. The ring gear on the flexplate is used to engage the starter motor to crank the engine. This part is commonly found in automatic transmission vehicles.
