DESCRIPTION
Charge Air Cooler (CAC) is a heat exchanger used in turbocharged and supercharged diesel engines to cool the compressed air before it enters the engine. It is also known as an intercooler. The CAC is typically located between the turbocharger or supercharger and the engine's intake manifold. The CAC works by passing the hot compressed air through a series of tubes or fins, which are cooled by ambient air passing over them. This cools the compressed air, making it denser and increasing the engine's power output. The CAC is similar in design to a radiator, but it is specifically designed to cool compressed air rather than engine coolant.
