DESCRIPTION
Charge Air Cooler (CAC) is a heat exchanger used in turbocharged and supercharged diesel engines to cool the compressed air before it enters the engine's intake manifold. It is also known as an Intercooler. The CAC is similar to a radiator and is usually located in front of the engine's radiator. The compressed air from the turbocharger or supercharger passes through the CAC, where it is cooled by the ambient air passing over the fins of the cooler. This cooler, denser air results in increased engine power and efficiency.
