1969 Ford Cortina

The 1969 Ford Cortina is part of the Mk II series produced from 1966 to 1970, notable for its performance and design enhancements. Engine options included a 1.2-liter and a 1.5-liter, but the standout was the GT model, featuring a 1.6-liter Kent engine with a cross-flow head that delivered 93 horsepower at 5,400 RPM. The GT variant was equipped with a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission, enhancing driving engagement, and it did not offer an automatic option. Performance was further improved with a stiffened suspension and oversized front disc brakes. The interior of the GT model boasted an airy and spacious layout, highlighted by a three-spoke steering wheel, while the exterior featured distinctive stripes and chrome trim. By this time, the Cortina Mk II enjoyed significant popularity, particularly in Canada, where it ranked as the second best-selling import car.
