1986 Ford LTD

1986 Ford LTD

The 1986 Ford LTD is a mid-size vehicle that succeeded the Ford Granada, available in both four-door sedan and five-door station wagon configurations, with no two-door options offered. Engine choices for this model included a 2.3-liter inline-four, a 3.3-liter inline-six (phased out by 1984), and a 3.8-liter V6, the latter being the most common, delivering approximately 112 horsepower. Transmission options comprised a three-speed automatic and a four-speed overdrive automatic, with the four-speed being standard on the V6 models. The LTD features a wheelbase of around 105.6 inches, contributing to its stability and ride quality. Notably, the 1986 model introduced a federally mandated center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) for enhanced safety. This model year is also significant as it marked the conclusion of the LTD line, transitioning to the Ford Taurus in 1987.
