DESCRIPTION
The Doser Pump (part number 4387657RX) is a component of the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system found in modern diesel trucks. Its primary function is to deliver a precise amount of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) into the SCR system, which then converts harmful nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. The doser pump operates using an internal piston and solenoid valve, which are controlled by the engine's electronic control module (ECM). It is located near the DEF tank and is connected to it by a series of hoses. If the doser pump fails or malfunctions, it can cause a variety of issues including decreased engine performance, increased emissions output, or even engine shutdown.
