When brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure forces brake pads against both sides of rotor's surface causing friction which reduces speed and heat energy. This helps dissipate heat effectively while preventing warping and cracking under high stress conditions. Brake rotors are typically made of cast iron or ceramic materials depending on application requirements for durability and performance.
